At the end of every year, Jambase makes a best of list that compiles the favorite albums and live shows from their staff, select artists, contributors and friends.
I was super excited to go on their website today and find that our album, Wicker, made the list!! Keller Williams included it on his list of his top 5 favorite albums of 2008.
In addition, we received notice today that Wicker also made it to Homegrown Music's best of list for 2008, and Josh Phillips Folk Festival tied with Laura Reed and Deep Pocket for HGMN Band of the Year!
Thank you to everyone for the support and for such a great first year. We are so excited for this coming year and all the potential it offers all of us. Happy Holidays to every one and look forward to seeing you in 2009.

2008-10-20 FREE show in Asheville this Saturday, opening for KELLER WILLIAMS
We have the amazing opportunity to play this incredible free show with Keller Williams and EOTO. The show will take place this Saturday, Oct. 25th on Lexington Avenue, starting at 5pm. It's the beginning of the "Just Because You're Asheville" concert series.
It might be chilly, so remember: the harder you dance, the warmer you'll be. And you're all on the guest list for this one!

2008-08-25 Debut album 'Wicker' up for PreSale!
Our first album, 'Wicker' is due to be released September 9th, 2008. You can pre-order your copy right now at our online store for only $12! We'll ship the CD's out September 9th, and we'll also throw in a signed press photo, and probably some other goodies.
2008-07-31 Josh performs with Victor Wooten!
Tonight, Josh got to perform with Victor Wooten, Chuck Rainey, Shane Pruitt, Jim Peterman, Mars Fariss, and George Waterman! This was an amazing evening of excellent music, fun, and fund-raising. The proceeds help to support Richard Cleveland's Earth School scholarship program, Victor Wooten's Music and Nature Camp, and F.E.N.C.E. The debut album "Wicker" is set for release on September 9, 2008. In the meantime you can order the "For Today Premix" EP from the website, or at any Folk Festival shows.
2008-05-18 Summer Festivals
Folk Festival appearing at AmJam this weekend on Saturday May 24th at 6pm. AmJam takes place at beautiful Deerfields near Asheville, NC.
Also, the Folk Festival is proud to announce they have added sets at the Vortex Festival at the Asheville Civic Center on June 27, as well as at the Floyd Music Festival in Floyd, WV on July 25th.
2008-03-18 Josh Phillips Folk Festival mixing at Tree Sound Studio this week
We will be continuing to mix our first album, Wicker, at Tree Sound Studios for the next 3 days. We plan on being complete with the album by the end of April and the release soon to follow.
2008-03-13 Folk Festival in Nashville with Toubab Krewe
The Folk Festival opened for Toubab Krewe once again at the Mercy Lounge in Nashville, TN. It was a great show and a great audience. Thanks to Biko for sitting in and all the folks from the Farm that came to support Casey, Elijah, and the Folk Fest. Especially Beth who seemed to know all the words to all the songs.
2008-03-10 Party with Pandora internet radio a great success
The Josh Phillips Folk Festival played with Laura Reed and Deep Pocket at Tree Sound Studios in Atlanta, GA. The show was a great success and we got an incredible audio and video recording from the show. The show was well attended and perked the eyebrows of the Pandora crew. The Pandora website is incredible. For those of you who haven't checked it out yet, go to Pandora.com. Look out for the results of the video and audio recordings.
2008-03-06 Opening for Toubab Krewe
The Josh Phillips Folk Festival goes on tour tomorrow on a two night run with Toubab Krewe. We will be opening for the Krewe at the Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, NC on 3/7 and The Soapbox in Wilmington, NC on 3/8.
2008-03-05 Working on Website games
We are working on our games to put in the games section of our website. Eventually we will have a place to register as a "gamer" to gain points towards merchandise, shows, and other things. We are also working on a staple word game that will be similar to refrigerator magnets. Stay tuned for more. Until then, enjoy the joke in the "games" section and check out the link for more jokes collected by our Asheville friends who cycled across the country documenting jokes.
